ASP were recently commissioned by The Moore Institute of NUI Galway to carry out a research excavation/fieldschool on Cleenish Island, Co. Fermanagh. These investigations form part of a major international research project on The Life and Legacy of St Columbanus. Cleenish is where, during the 6th century AD, Columbanus received his initial education under St Sinell, the founder of the site.

The excavation was directed by our Senior Archaeologist, Ros Ó Maoldúin, and excavators included post graduate students from universities in Italy, France and Ireland. The initial results will soon be available on the Columbanus Life and Legacy website.
